The
members of the North Carolina Crime Prevention
Association, recognize that by formal definition, crime
prevention is the "Anticipation, recognition, and
appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some
action to remove of reduce it". In practical
application, crime prevention is a pattern of attitudes
and behaviors directed both at reducing the threat of
crime and enhancing the sense of safety and security.
Crime Prevention positively influences the
quality of life in our society, and helps develop environments
where crime cannot flourish through a concentrated, cooperative
effort.
